Our 10-Day Program is designed to give you the theoretical and hands-on experience you need to leave with practical skills in sustainable earth-based design and construction

You can apply this knowledge and experience anywhere in the world!


10-Day Itinerary

Day 0, December 27th (or earlier): Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal. Spend one night (or more) in Kathmandu. Explore local cultural and historical sites.

Day 1, December 28th: Meet Conscious Impact team and other program participants in Kathmandu at 8am for private transport to our village site (5-7 hours); Orientation, camp tour and dinner provided upon arrival.

Day 2, December 29th: Morning Work Tour and introduction to natural building construction sites; Afternoon community tour to see Nepali village life and culture

Day 3, December 30th: Morning — Theory and science of earth construction (including how to test soil qualities), plus hands on experimentation with soil; Afternoon — How to Make Compressed Earth Blocks

Day 4, December 31st: Cob! The theory and practice of mixing sand, straw and soil to make one of the world’s oldest building materials. Evening New Years Eve celebration

Day 5, January 1st: Day Off for New Years. Time for a shower, laundry or a day hike into the Himalayan mountains

Day 6, January 2nd: Bamboo! How to harvest, clean, split and weave bamboo, all in one day!

Day 7, January 3rd: Earthbags and Superadobe! How to design and build with one of the world’s most earthquake-safe building materials

Day 8, January 4th: . Earth Plastering! How to get that smooth final finish onto the walls and floors of your earthen structures.

Day 9, January 5th: Final day of work. Morning: Rammed Earth! Afternoon: Review, last questions and time for individual exploration of personal interests. Do you need more time practicing with bamboo? Are you interested in designing your own home? Complete your personal projects with help from our team.

Day 10, January 6th: Final breakfast and departure to Kathmandu (8am). Participants can fly out anytime after 5pm or the following day from Kathmandu airport.
